Rebecca Schaper and Kyle Tekiela’s feature documentary

A Sister’s Call explores how and why a loved one can disappear into a twenty year abyss of homelessness.

In 1977, Call Richmond went missing. Twenty years later, he shows up on his sister Rebecca’s doorstep suffering from paranoid schizophrenia. Filmed over fourteen years, A Sister’s Call captures Rebecca’s brave journey of “bringing her brother back.” While celebrating his healing, the family is finally forced to reconcile the dark traumas and painful memories of their past. Call becomes the unlikely catalyst in this raw depiction of personal and familial recovery.

"Full of secrets...stays with you long after you leave the theatre."

Dear friends of the film,

On September 4th at 9:25pm, Call Richmond passed away, peacefully and surrounded by his loving family. While we are deeply saddened by his loss, we are grateful for the time we had with Call. We are equally grateful to have all been a part of Call's amazing journey. Please take the time to thank Call in your own private way. His life was a mission and a struggle, but it was a struggle that ended in recovery, peace, and inspiring hope. We ask that you continue to keep Rebecca and the rest of Call's family in your thoughts and prayers.

Before his passing Call said he wanted no flowers, but rather that all donations go directly to

NAMI of Greenville, S.C. Please email Rebecca for further details.

Sincerely,

Team Call
